The best of humanity

In series (season) five of the new Doctor Who Series (stay with me), the Doctor and his companions stumble upon the original species of earth-ians, called Silurians. Primitive people living underground, basically waiting their turn to inhabit the surface of the earth again. Or trying to wait. (Seriously, stay with me.)

Humans accidentally invade the underground home and the Silurians get super pissed thinking they're under attack. Chaos ensues and each species takes hostages.

Secrets

I just wanted you to see my TARDIS tea diffuser, I use it
with pride behind closed doors
Sex and the City had an episode about Secret Single Behavior. Things they did that they were ashamed of and missed doing once they were living with their significant other. I haven't lived with someone for nearly 13 years. That's... well, that's a teenager is what that is.

Here are things I do because I think no one is watching even though some of these are in public:

1. When I walk by a window I check myself out. I like to believe people think I'm just looking THROUGH the window, but what I want to know is if I look fat or how my ass looks in these pants. But I truly believe people think I'm just window shopping.

I DO like them, Sam I Am.

This post is purely bragging about how awesome my life is. That's okay right? I mean, we're inundated with "FMLs" and terrible news stories and talking about all the failures in our lives so this is about successes and in order for me to not feel like a braggart asshole, you have homework: make your own list of amazing things. You can share them in the comments if you wish.

1. Friday I worked from home and my friend April came by with her real estate mentor to survey the state of the condo. After the "your kitchen is amazing," we had some real talk about things that would need to happen for me to sell. Sometimes I walk away from real talk situations thinking "Who did I trick into thinking I'm a grown up... Idiots! But this time I was proud and really "Fuck yeah, I'm a grown up and can do this if I want to!"

Is there a bathroom on the Tardis?

There's apparently a pool in the library sometimes. But not always. So I guess there's a bathroom somewhere. I also wonder why sometimes when there's a new companion who is whisked away and she only has one outfit, the Doctor doesn't show her to the wardrobe that he does sometimes have so that Rose can go Victorian in an episode, but Amy has to wear her nightgown in New London?

It goes "ding" when there's stuff

When the 10th Doctor gets super excited about something I want to hump his leg. I don't know why someone else's excitement gets me going, but it does. WC talking about Tough Mudder? I want him to not run through fields of live electrical wires, but he gets so excited that all I can say is "RUN, MY FRIEND! RUN!"

So here's what I'm excited about in no particular order:

Wednesday is the new Friday.

I have to admit I was SUPER excited when I got the holiday cup from Starbucks the day after Halloween. Some years I'm definitely a grinch and others, like this year, I'm ready to put up lights and listen to Christmas music November 5th. In honor of my Christmas cheer, I'd like to offer a guide for people struggling for gift ideas.

Age is something like a number. A very big number.

"DOCTOR!"
For a long time I refused to watch TV shows on Netflix because I knew it had the potential to ruin my life. If I start watching my Buffy DVDs, I don't leave the house again until I've watched all 7 seasons (the musical episode and Hush at least 5 more times each). But then I succumbed. Succame(d). I gave in.

Fair warning: This is a reaaally dorky post and contains spoilers about Doctor Who if you're not current through Season 6.... Buffy and Angel ended in like 2002 so if you haven't watched it yet, you're on your own. But I imagine most of you have already stopped reading...

I started watching the new Doctor Who series this spring and would stay up until 2:00 a.m. on week nights watching episodes on my laptop which I would take to bed with me (having a TV in the bedroom is bad)...

I plowed through those, then watched all of Torchwood, then all of a Sherlock (same writer as Doctor Who: Stephen Moffat) and then I was just sad. And terribly devoid of British accents in my bedroom. So I started watching Angel. Despite being a gigantic fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and just about everything else Joss Whedon has ever touched, I barely watched any of the 5 seasons of Angel when they were on TV so there are tons of new-to-me episodes.

As Seen on TV

My gym offers fruit; usually apples and bananas. I stepped out of my car this evening only to slip on a banana peel that someone had kindly tossed on the ground. I was unaware that one actually COULD slip on a banana. If only I'd paid attention to all those Scooby Doo and Looney Tunes cartoons from my childhood... I probably still wouldn't have noticed the peel under foot, but I wouldn't have felt as foolish.
Do bananas wear Chuck Taylors?
