I DO like them, Sam I Am.

This post is purely bragging about how awesome my life is. That's okay right? I mean, we're inundated with "FMLs" and terrible news stories and talking about all the failures in our lives so this is about successes and in order for me to not feel like a braggart asshole, you have homework: make your own list of amazing things. You can share them in the comments if you wish.

1. Friday I worked from home and my friend April came by with her real estate mentor to survey the state of the condo. After the "your kitchen is amazing," we had some real talk about things that would need to happen for me to sell. Sometimes I walk away from real talk situations thinking "Who did I trick into thinking I'm a grown up... Idiots! But this time I was proud and really "Fuck yeah, I'm a grown up and can do this if I want to!"

Church of the God the Utterly Indifferent

I finished my second of Vonnegut's books last week, The Sirens of Titan. On its surface it's about a war with Mars, a weird ghostman who appears and reappears every 50 or so days to torture his wife with predictions of the future, and luck.

The antagonist in the story, Winston Niles Rumfoord (ghostman), after his death and ghosting, starts the Church of the God the Utterly Indifferent. It's two basic teachings are: "Puny man can do nothing at all to help or please God Almighty, and Luck is not the hand of God." Ultimately, God doesn't care what you do and God didn't make your life suck or not suck.
I WAS A VICTIM OF A SERIES OF ACCIDENTS, AS ARE WE ALL. (Vonnegut, The Sirens of Titan)

Of unsound mind...

When WC and I first started hanging out and I was simply excited to have won the wooing, I didn't notice that he always grabbed my hand before we crossed a street because I was just excited he was grabbing my hand. And I didn't exactly notice that he'd let go once we reached the other side because I was sad and confused that he so obviously liked me and then 10 seconds later ceased the liking. Somewhere around month 3 I noticed the pattern and without thinking blurted that I am not, in fact, a child and do know how to look both ways before crossing a street.

Way to squash a sweet and chivalrous gesture, asshole!

He still hesitates sometimes, and I try to ignore it because talking about things never helps. Often, but not always, he just grabs my hand regardless of the self-doubt I gave him because he's over worrying about me feeling patronized and wants to make sure I get across the street safely; and all I really want him to do is not let go once we've reached the other side. Plus... I really am a danger to myself.

Hot-odontist and the Tooth Bitch (A Fairy Tale)

WARNING: If stories about dental treatments triggers self harm or panic induced coma, you should still read on... this has a happen ending.

I had a dentist appointment this morning. I am not unique. I do not like the dentist. I used to not hate it. I used to look at it like a pap smear... some discomfort, some lecturing, a lot of poking... but a means to an end that includes a clean orifice and another year of birth control.

Until I turned 30 and had a cavity. This was the result of becoming a hippy and ceasing to use flouride-based toothpaste because did you know that flouride is a poison and in high levels is used as a truth serum in war time and also the government puts flouride in the water supply to make us docile? Someone told me something like that so I switched to non-flouride toothpaste and then didn't see a dentist for 2 years.

Is there a bathroom on the Tardis?

There's apparently a pool in the library sometimes. But not always. So I guess there's a bathroom somewhere. I also wonder why sometimes when there's a new companion who is whisked away and she only has one outfit, the Doctor doesn't show her to the wardrobe that he does sometimes have so that Rose can go Victorian in an episode, but Amy has to wear her nightgown in New London?
