I bought two great prints from Etsy a few weeks ago because I've decided my wall decor is stupid and I need new stuff. They both arrived this week so I needed to get some frames. Originally WC was going to go with me, but since he actually likes sports and doesn't see a major sporting event as a REASON to go shopping, he bailed on me to watch the Broncos.
No worries. I made my way to Ikea thinking "Maybe I'll pick up a few fun things in addition to the frames."
Halfway through my trip I texted WC to let him know I was furious he'd allowed me to come alone because my $30 trip was going to hit triple digits AND require the purchase of one of their stupid blue bags. If he'd been with me I would have quietly lusted for things and only picked up what I was destined for. (We're not at that point in our relationship where I want him to know quite how impulsive my impulse buys are.... oohh, shiney!)
I could tell he was pleased that I would be further engaged the rest of the afternoon in putting together my bounty because I like to text him a lot while he's watchings sports with questions like "Did they fumble the basket?" and "I'm told the players have cute butts. What do you think?".
This is what my trip should have looked like.

| The polka dot thing is a duvet cover. Because you need 4 duvet covers for 1 bed. |
And WC was right. I did have some work to do. New drying rack for the kitchen:

What the fuck does any of this mean?

What I learned is that my phillips head screwdriver is fucked and I need a new one. You know how you can strip the edges off the phillips head screws? Well, you can also do that to the screwdriver. Lesson #1.
What I also learned is that you should measure twice before leaving the house. Or once at least because lots of times things don't fit based on memory and then you have to try to shove everything back into shrink wrap and that doesn't work. Ever. Lesson #2.

| You can't tell which one I opened, right? |
But then sometimes you get a nice drying rack that you might have put together wrong, but it seems to be doing the trick so what is "right" anyway?
I went specifically to get the frames, so I framed my pictures. But one of the frames is the wrong size so I kind of had to rig it. Now I have to pound 75 holes in my walls before deciding where I want these fabulous items to reside.

Frankly, I don't know why I wanted a cow picture because I'm not much for agricultural artwork, but I really loved this cow and I've totally wanted one since I saw this giant cow picture in Santa Fe that was like $3000. I think I made out well and maybe someday I'll get it properly matted.
Lesson #3 is a lesson for you: Cow art and whale art DO go together.
Anyway, go buy some art on Etsy. Starving artists will thank you.
Also: Go Broncos. Looks like next Sunday I can go to the mall.
