I have had the Fitbit since Saturday and I have learned a lot about myself in these short 5 days.
1. I am not used to wearing something on my wrist and I think I'd be more comfortable if I could staple it to my cheek, but since I can't and I'm committed to data collection, I will endure.
2. I am insanely inefficient in the morning. My condo is 700 square feet. I average 350-400 steps just getting ready in the morning. This is primarily due to the fact that I do not put anything where it belongs. I have shoes in every corner of those 700 square feet and not in matching sets. If I want a matching set (as I often do), I have to wander... get distracted by something else I found that I'd been looking for because I didn't put it away... wander again until I remember I'm looking for my other purple tennis shoe... and then remember I only put mascara on one set of lashes...wash, rinse, repeat.
3. Wearing the Fitbit in the shower makes the Fitbit think you're running a marathon. It counted 300 steps in the shower alone. I now remove it. #2 is not based on the shower.
4. Unlike the shower, the Fitbit does not recognize Power Yoga as movement. It simply thinks I've been holding still for 45 minutes instead of sweating out my eyeballs.
5. See #4 in relation to a circuit training class including rowing sprints. Just thinks I'm casually walking back and forth between the rower and the weights... la di da...

| Green = dying on a rower at 7:30 a.m. Yellow at 6:00 pm was a short walk to the grocery store where I purchase the cookie in #7. |

| Whoops? Fuck you. |
8. I sleep pretty well according to the sleep tracker. Now, the hour of Arrested Development I watch on my laptop in bed is certainly impacting the amount of time I sleep, but I doubt the Fitbit will help me with that.
9. I do not average 10,000 steps per day. I'm thinking I'll just run in place at my desk tomorrow while I'm on calls to see if that helps. Or I'll just swing my arm...
10. I hate failing at goals I didn't set. 10,000 steps a day is not my goal. It's the FitBit's. Sure, I could change it, but that seems like setting the bar too low and I'm actually a pretty athletic and healthy person. But I have a small house, a small office, and I really enjoy the couch after I go to the gym and lay on the floor for 45-75 minutes.
Maybe I'll see how many steps it takes to clean the kitchen. Or put away my shoes....
